DESCRIPTION: Isaac Brokaw, Elizabethtown, NJ, tall case clock, 8 day, time and bell strike, weight driven movement in a flat top mahogany case with tombstone trunk door. The brass dial has a silvered chapter ring, brass spandrels, circular calendar aperture at 6, second's bit and signature boss.
CONDITION: the case retains a very old finish. The cornice molding below the hood has a 5" split repair. The seams on some moldings have opened. The feet are old replacements. This case probably had a sarcophagus top, now absent. The dial measures 18" x 13". Please see William Drost's "Clocks and Watches of New Jersey" pages 24 -34 for similar examples.
